What is WEEE?
WEEE stands for “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.” The European Unions WEEE directive implementation began in the EU-member states in August 2005 and defines the recycling/disposal and adequate disposal of equipment by producers, covering all used electrical and electronic equipment. The WEEE directive is managed by the individual EU country governments.
Katun’s WEEE Policy
Katun offers electrical and electronic equipment that qualifies under the WEEE directive as B2B (Business to Business) and, as a producer, has initiated the implementation of relevant recycling/disposal processes, including individual registration at government institutions in every EU country, to qualify under the directive. The individual country registration numbers will be reflected in the Katun business papers.

WEEE Take-Back Procedure
Upon customer request, Katun will take back Katun products that have reached “end of life” and are covered by the WEEE directive, to recycle or dispose of them in accordance with the WEEE guidelines.
Customers should call their local Katun office to arrange for pickup, and fill out the WEEE Pickup Request Form. Katun will send the customer a product return label, which should be affixed to the product(s) before sending them to Katun.

Which Katun Products fall under WEEE?
Vacuum cleaners, Multimeters and other electrical tools are subject to the WEEE-Directive.
Do Toner and Ink Cartridges fall under WEEE?
No. According to the EU (FAQ-May 2005, Article 1.6) toner and ink cartridges are considered to be consumables and do not fall under the WEEE-Directive.

What is the WEEE Marking?
Katun’s WEEE Products have been marked with the “crossed out Dust Bin Symbol” since 13. August 2005. This symbol indicates equipment that should not be disposed of with general business or household waste.
How is recycling/disposal arranged?
After end of life of Katun’s WEEE products, customers can request that Katun collect them for proper recycling and disposal. For details please contact your local Katun office.
What about products put into market before 13. August 2005?
Katun’s WEEE products put into the market before August 2005 that are not labeled with the “crossed out Dust Bin Symbol”, are taken back after re-use under the same conditions as products put into market after 13. August 2005.
