ROHS
What is RoHS?
The European Union’s RoHS Directive stands for “the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.” This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium, as well as flame retardants polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE). Manufacturers will need to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive to ensure that their products, and their components, comply. RoHS compliance will be managed by the individual EU country governments.
Katun’s RoHS Policy
Katun offers electrical and electronic equipment that qualifies under the RoHS directive in two out of ten categories. These two categories are:
- IT and telecommunications equipment
- Electrical and electronic tools
Katun proactively works with its suppliers of equipment in these two categories through a formal program requiring the supplier to complete a “Restriction of Hazardous Substances Declaration Form.” Although in most cases Katun does not manufacture these products, we feel it is in the best interest of our customers to proactively ensure the products we offer meet RoHS requirements. This process ensures that Katun is compliant with the RoHS Directive.
